We Must Speak

Sign our petition today and show the city we need better planning and safer streets.

Boston’s bike lane rollout is broken. Councilor Ed Flynn has filed a bill we support that would fix the process by pausing new construction until the city creates a real, transparent master plan. The bill would establish a commission to ensure all future projects are guided by expert engineering, safety data, and meaningful community input.

Ideas For Talking Points and Specific Requests

An immediate halt to the development of new bike lane infrastructure until a Master Plan is established.

Drastically increase signage, indicator lighting, and bike traffic signals at major intersections and crosswalks.

Install signage along bike paths to educate and compel biker compliance with traffic laws.

Implement automated traffic enforcement to deter reckless driving, blocking of intersections, and running red lights. This will lead to safer streets for pedestrians, bikers, and responsible motor vehicle operators.

Install signage 20-30 yards prior to major intersections and crosswalks letting bikers know that they are “approaching a crosswalk – obey the law, stop on red / yield to pedestrians”.

Consider installing speed humps on major thoroughfares where there is clear evidence of cars, mopeds, scooters speeding excessively.

The Boston Transportation Department needs to engage with the community - the lack of community engagement and public process is a major issue.
